Team Toner Real Estate

Palmerston North suburb

Milson real estate

A tidy, settled northern suburb popular with families, downsizers and buyers wanting a low-maintenance home.

The Milson market

Milson lies on Palmerston North's northern side, across the main trunk railway from the city, and it's home to Palmerston North Airport. The suburb began in 1926 as a railway settlement — around 70 houses were built for the workers on the Milson deviation, and most are still standing — and most of the rest of Milson was built from the 1950s onwards.

Today it's a settled suburb of family homes on decent sections, with streets and parks named on space and American-presidential themes: Apollo Parade, Apollo Park and its space-themed playground, and Kennedy Park. Buyers tend to want a straightforward, well-kept home in a quiet street, close to schools, the northern shops and an easy run into town.

Milson School (Years 1–6) and St Peter's College (Years 7–13) are both in the suburb, which keeps families coming back. Downsizers like it for the manageable sections and quiet streets, and first-home buyers for the value on the northern side of the railway.

Presentation and sensible pricing do the heavy lifting here. If you're weighing up a move, a free appraisal from Allan and Karen gives you a range built from recent Milson sales, with no obligation to list.
